The gas and helium company Renergen, that discovered huge new gas sources within its production area earlier this year, signed a 19-year agreement with Argonon Helium in the USA this week. Although other major helium sources in the world such as those in Qatar, Algeria, Russia and the USA are much larger than that of Renergen, it counts in the company’s favour that this helium concentration at its Virginia gas fields in the Free State, is as high as 3,5%. The helium reserves elsewhere in the world have a much lower concentration of less than 0.5% which makes it commercially a lot less viable. Stef Marani, CEO of Renergen, is in the studio to tell more.
